Such forms are similar to forms that are printed and then completed. Word also allows you to create forms that can be completed in Word. Simply click the Protect Form button on the Forms toolbar, shown in Figure 4-14, to prevent changes to the form layout and the text labels in the form.Ĭreating Forms for Electronic Distribution Once you have completed your form, you may wish to lock it. To disable field codes, click Tools Options. Additionally, you probably don’t want to see field codes in your document your fields will appear as a string of characters. The shading does not appear when you print the form. Certain form fields are not visible with the shading turned off. ■ Tip While working with form fields, it is helpful to turn on form field shading. The second form field is the check box form field, which is a box that users can simply check (see Figure 4-12). You can join several in succession if you need to resize the box, as shown in Figure 4-11. The first is a text form field, which is a box where text can be entered. With printed forms, there are only two important form fields to enter. Simply click the Change Text Direction button, as shown in Figure 4-10.įigure 4-10. If needed, you can change the direction of text within a cell. Select the one you want for the cell contents. The arrow to the right of it will give you a pop-up menu of options, as Figure 4-9 shows. To align the text in a table cell, click the Alignment button. When you’re ready to insert a form field, just select it from the Forms toolbar. You can also insert pictures in the table cells. Just click inside the cells and begin typing to enter the text.
